Ellie" is 3 1/2 years old and is just starting to out under saddle. She should mature to at least 16 hands and currently sticks at 15.3h with a lot more growing to do. Ellie is bright chestnut with 4 whites and a huge blaze. She is very laid back, a beautiful mover, and has a sweet personality. She ties, trailers, baths, clips and has free jumped a couple of times. She is ready to start under saddle and will continue to advance in her training.

Sire Line:

Ellie's sire is Alacazam who is a son of the 100 Day Stallion Test winner Puerto d'Azur. Puerto D'Azur was born in Belgium and imported to North America in 1997. In 1998 he became the 100 Day Test Champion with scores of 132.73 in Dressage and 127.09 in jumping. In 2006 he was taken to the BWP inspection where he received wonderful comments from the judges on his fantastic jumping ability as well as overall gaits. He comes from the sire line of Azur Despaultra who has numerous offspring doing upper level dressage as well as jumping in North America and Europe. Azur Despaultra sire is Grand Veneur who has over 332 offspring that are show jumping winners as well as 75 fully approved stallions. Puerto D'Azur's dam line of Jessy Girl is sired by Primo des Bruyeres who sired Jus De Pomme the double gold Olympic stallion of 1996 Atlanta Games as well as the Belgian stallion Fantastique who you still see in many of the BWP pedigrees in Europe today.

Dam Line:

Ellie's dam is the imported German Rhinelander mare, Pia Lena, who competed up to Level 5 jumpers with Sunny Stevens of Stevehaven Stables. A photo of Pia Lena can be seen on the Mares page.

We recently caught up with Caroline of Rose Mount Farm in Fredericksburg, Virginia and her mom Monica with an update on Midnight's progress since his purchase:

"We decided to invest in a large pony and spent a lot of time trying to find a safe, reliable and talented pony for our daughter Caroline.  As a former equestrian competitor and now mom, I know the perils of getting the wrong pony and we were skeptical when we heard phrases such as, "the pony does everything", "can do the rated shows", "packer pony", "safe and reliable for children", "no spook", etc.   We then contacted Kathy Stover of Stover Creek Farm about her pony Midnight Hour.  After speaking with Kathy and consulting with our trainer, Ann Garnett of Rosemount Farm, we agreed to pick up Midnight on a trial basis of 30 days.  Within two weeks we knew this was the pony for our daughter!  He has terrific, safe ground manners, a sweet temperament (he follows our daughter everywhere), jumps courses without hesitation or spook and a big stride with enough scope to handle the rated competitions down the road.  He was everything Kathy said and more.  We absolutely love Midnight and he has given our daughter the confidence to advance into the Short Stirrup division.  At his first horse show, he easily won Grand Champion in the pleasure division with our daughter!  Thank you Kathy, for your honesty, patience and integrity.  We feel so blessed to have found Midnight Hour for our family.  We will keep you up to date on our progress!"  - Monica Patton
